Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to every order placed with A2 Legal ("A2 Legal," "we," "us") through a2.legal, by email, or by phone. By placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Refund & Cancellation Policy, and our Privacy Policy.

1. Our services

A2 Legal provides service of process (delivering legal documents to the people or businesses named in them), skip tracing, court filing, posting of notices, and document retrieval, mainly in the Tri-Valley area of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, California. Descriptions, turnaround times, and prices for each service are listed on our Pricing page.

2. Not a law firm

A2 Legal is a process serving company, not a law firm. We do not give legal advice, choose which documents you need, or tell you how to fill them out. You are responsible for making sure your documents are complete, correct, and allowed to be served.

3. Placing an order

When you place an order, you agree to give us accurate information about the person or business to be served, including the best address and description you have. We confirm each order, its price, and its turnaround time by email before we begin work. An order is accepted only after we confirm it.

4. Prices and payment

• All prices are in US dollars (USD) and are shown on our Pricing page.
• Payment is due when you place your order unless we have agreed in writing to invoice you. Firms with approved accounts may be invoiced with payment due within 30 days.
• Card payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. A2 Legal never sees or stores your full card number.
• Extra charges, such as additional attempts, stakeouts, or wait time, are charged only if you approve them first.
• Court filing fees, copy fees, and other government charges are passed through at cost.

5. How service is carried out

We serve documents according to the California Code of Civil Procedure. Each order includes up to three attempts at different times of day. Turnaround times are the times by which we make our first attempt, not a promise that service will be completed by then. Whether service is completed depends on finding the person, which we can't guarantee.

If we can't complete service after the included attempts, we provide a signed declaration of due diligence that describes every attempt. You can then order more attempts, a skip trace, or other next steps.

6. Proof of service

When service is complete, we email you a signed proof of service, normally the same business day. If you ask, we mail the original or file it with the court for the filing fee listed on our Pricing page.

7. Restrictions

• We serve only within California. Service outside our standard service area is quoted case by case.
• We may decline any order that appears to be for an unlawful purpose, harassment, or anything not related to a legal proceeding.
• We do not enter private property unlawfully, impersonate anyone, or use force or deception to complete service.
• Under California law, some personal information may be shared with a court as part of a proof of service.

8. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, A2 Legal's total liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not responsible for delays or failed service caused by inaccurate information you gave us, by the person being served avoiding service, or by events outside our reasonable control.

10. Disputes

If you have a problem with an order, please contact us first at [email protected] or (501) 361-1031. We respond within one business day and will work in good faith to resolve it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page when you place an order applies to that order.
