Privacy Policy
Effective November 7, 2026
This policy explains what information A2 Legal collects when you use a2.legal or hire us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- About you: your name, firm or company, email address, phone number, and billing details.
- About your case: the case name and number, court, court dates, and the documents you ask us to serve.
- About the person being served: their name, addresses, description, and any other details you give us to help complete service.
- Payment information: card payments are handled by Stripe, Inc. We receive confirmation of your payment and the last four digits of your card, but never your full card number.
- Website data: basic technical information that our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records, such as IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure and running. We don't use advertising cookies or sell tracking data.
How we use it
- To carry out and document the services you order
- To send you status updates, proofs of service, receipts, and invoices
- To process payments and refunds
- To meet our legal obligations as a California process server, including keeping records
- To answer your questions and improve our services
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With courts and the parties to a case, as part of a proof of service or declaration that the law requires
- With service providers who help us run our business, such as Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for website hosting, and our email provider, and only as needed to provide their services
- When required by law, subpoena, or court order
How we protect it
Our website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the highest level of payment security. We limit who can access case information and keep documents only as long as we need them.
How long we keep it
We keep order records and proofs of service for at least 3 years, or longer if the law requires, so we can confirm service if it's ever questioned in court. After that we securely delete them.
Your California privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, including the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to not be treated differently for using those rights. We may need to keep certain records when the law or a court proceeding requires it. To make a request, email [email protected].
Children
Our website and services are meant for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information online from children under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
